Fundraising Growth Appraisal
For organizations with a campaign on the horizon and that could benefit from “Fundraising 101”, this 6- to 9-month engagement carefully guides staff through the fundamentals of building fundraising infrastructure to sustain financial growth. Appraisal activities help nonprofit staff discover organizational strengths, introduce the organization to the corporate and foundation funding community, and buttress support through development of a systematic volunteer leadership structure.
Strategic Plans
The development of goals and objectives with specific timelines and accountabilities that are based on the projection of future implications of present conditions and trends translated into budgets and work programs. This plan usually employs the SWOT analysis as a component of the planning process.
Resource Development Plans
Beginning with a Development Audit, we examine an organization’s functional areas and the impact of each area on overall revenue. We test the relevance of programs to mission and the urgency of mission to motivate financial support. We study the link between functional areas, the integration of functional areas to the overall operations of the organization and the efficiency of each area in relationship to the infrastructure. Audit results form the basis of the Resource Development Plan which outlines specific recommendations for growth, timelines and action plan accountabilities.
Business Plans
A business plan blends operational, strategic, budget and forecast planning into one document that summarizes the operational and financial objectives and contains detailed plans and budgets showing how the objectives are to be realized. It projects future opportunities for the organization and maps the financial, operations, marketing and organizational strategies that will enable the organization to achieve its goals.
Fundraising Training
Fundraising Training focuses on teaching volunteer leaders best practices in donor cultivation and solicitation. Consultants facilitate hands-on interactive exercises regarding the development process, prospect cultivation; how to articulate the case for support; the art of making “the ask” and the processes necessary to maintain donor relations. Participants practice telling their story as it relates to their organization. Instructive and motivational group and facilitator feedback is provided.
Leadership Training
Leadership Training encompasses the steps and tools needed to develop “resource leaders” for your organization. Topics covered include board recruitment; defining board member responsibilities as it relates to the organization; development of a board orientation process; leadership evaluation; and board mentoring. The primary outcome is a complete Board manual for the organization.
Communications & Raising Awareness
A well-conceived communications plan creates a broad awareness of your organization’s value to the community. Components of a plan may include a case statement; brochures, and a publicity/public relations plan to create a broad-based awareness that assists in creating a climate conducive to giving.
Case Statement Development
We work with clients to develop a written document stating why your organization needs and merits fundraising support. A case statement communicates the purpose of the project; campaign goal; programming and financial needs; and how community needs will be met when the campaign is successful.
Grant Writing
JB&A provides hands on assistance to research and write grant proposals to obtain money from foundations or individual donors. If ongoing, management of the entire grant process may also be an option. Submission of the Kresge grant is a specialty to the firm and will be offered to clients in capital campaigns.
